In the 3rd round with a Tokmac speciality
4-2 aggregate result over Valletta, FTC went through to the third round in the Champions League.

After last Wednesday’s 3-1 win in Budapest, our lads prepared for the 2nd leg in a confident position. This did not mean that they would not want to win and this showed in hitting the bar twice in the first ten minutes. Today however our attacks were less efficient than in the last matches and we closed the first half without reaching the net but receiving one from the home team from a penalty.

The team came back to the pitch with a different mentality for the second half and with much more offensive play. This resulted in several chances where the Maltese goalkeeper had to show superb saves. In the 60th minute even he could not save his team: Tokmac came again and scored a brilliant curved goal. This has been his third goal in the qualifiers. The 1-1 result did not change in the remaining minutes and although we could have played better, the aggregate 4-2 result showed the difference between the two teams and is enough to go to the next round.

Next week we continue against Dinamo Zagreb, first away.
